A Roman Hillside

A painting that I did from a scene that I saw when in Italy. The buildings are interesting and colorful. I still have photographs from that trip that I hope to paint very soon.

Different Strokes Challenge

Karin Jurick has given us an interesting challenge for this month. She paired us up with another artist(we don't know who it is) and we are to paint that artist and that artist paints us. I have spent several hours painting from the photograph of the artist that is my subject.

I just wanted to capture the expression that she presented. I painted two in watercolor, one of them is on Yupo paper and the other is on Fabriano. I just can't decide which one I want to submit for the Different Folks website. Both of them are here for you see.

Beach

It has been a week of rain and fog so I painted a beach scene from one of the photographs we made in October on the beach. I painted with a palette knife to add texture. It is still wet and may need some corrections after I look at it for a while.
Oil on wrapped canvas 6" x 9"
Since I have looked at this more, I see that I would like to soften certain areas in the sky. We will see how it looks after that.

DSFDF Work Boots

Work boots was the subject that Karin Jurick posted for the past two weeks challenge. Now, I tell you the truth....work boots and I are not compatible. However, for many years, we have had this lovely handcarved boot. I have looked at it often and dusted it sometimes. So, it is small as you can see by its companions, fresh vegetables from the market.

9 x 12 oil on canvas. Available

VSDDec08

The challenge for Virtual Sketch Date for December is a snowy field and barn-like structures. This is how I saw it in watercolors. The size is 5 1/2" x 7 1/2". I left the watercolor paper's edge on it because I like that look sometimes on a finished painting. There is a link here for you to see all of the work submitted. Click on Virtual Sketch Date to see all who participated.

Snowy Monday

It has been snowing all morning and that calls for a painting. We don't get a lot of snowy days in North Alabama. I live at a higher elevation and the bushes, limbs, grasses are covered and look pretty. The roads are fine and we appreciate that.
