Landscape for January

I have been learning to paint on Yupo paper with watercolors and it is a different experience! Yupo is a plastic paper and the paint works and drys a lot different than the cold press Arches paper that I am used to painting on. This from a photograph posted on Wetcanvas.com by Pete.

This painting is very beautiful! Do you like the paper? Is it better or just different?

Hi Myra,
Thanks for your comment.
I like using this paper although it sometimes seems like painting on wax paper! Easy to lift it and make changes is fun.

This is a fantastic painting - haven't a clue about the paper as I've never seen it here, but whatever it is, works for you.

Hi Liz, thanks for visiting. I bought the paper at Cheap Joe's art stuff. Other art supply companys have it also. Most of the art organization competitions that I have seen do not allow you to enter paintings on it.
I had to try it out after reading some articles about the different effects you could achieve with it.

Peggy: I've had fun with Yupo for a couple years or so now. As a semi-retired graphic designer, I was introduced to yupo as a fine art paper...after it's first use as menus for companies like Chili's...

It is SO much fun!

Peggy, One of my fav things to do with w/c on Yupo is to take a hair dryer to puddles of very intense pigmented color. You can control where the excess water goes. If you hold the hair dryer straight above the 'puddle', it will dry from the outside in...leaving little marks that resemble flower petals.

Vicki, Thanks so much for passing that tip along. I will certainly try that out. I like the sound of that.
