A Roman Bridge, oil painting

Recently completed oil painting of a bridge in Rome, Italy from a photograph we made while there some years ago. This image had come and gone in my mental file and in my photograph album often. ( Actually, it is still in both places.) It just had to be painted. This bridge goes over the river Tiber and is lined with statues that really hold your attention.

new oil painting, Amaryllis

I know that I have been absent from posting for a few weeks but I am painting.

The Roman scene that I have been working on is still wet. I look at it and ask "What else do you need?" Maybe, I can post it in the next week.

In the meantime, here is a painting in oil that I did of my Amaryllis. I love them because they bloom without any begging and they are fun to paint. The image size is 9 x 12.

Following the Masters, Study of Twachtman

Michelle Burnett is hosting a challenge blog where the artists paint from a photograph of a painting done by a Master.

I enjoy the art of John Henry Twachtman who lived 1853-1902. He did a painting that he simply called Landscape 1889. This is my rendition of that painting.
