Koenigsegg CCR tuned by edo Competition

Friday, May 13, 2011

The Koenigsegg CCR has enough power to shame most supercars, but that wasn't enough for one owner who found the whole driving experience a tad underwhelming.

To correct the misgivings, he enlisted edo Competition to modify the drive ratio and install a remapped ECU. As a result, the twin-supercharged 4.7-liter V8 engine hits its torque peak earlier and has an increased output of 891 PS (655 kW / 879 hp). Oddly, despite the extra power, the top speed was "reduced slightly" from 390 km/h (242 mph).

Furthermore, to fix the "notchy gear changes," edo engineers disassembled the transmission and replaced the plastic bushings with Uniball units. This results in improved acceleration and enhanced drivability.

Lastly, the cabin was outfitted with Alcantara upholstery, a redesigned center console, a new infotainment system, and a tire pressure monitoring system that has a display integrated into the dashboard.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT640 Golden Snake by GeigerCars

Thursday, May 12, 2011

GeigerCars has unveiled a new tuning package for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500.

Dubbed the GT640 Golden Snake, the car features a matte gold exterior with a carbon fiber hood, a front lip spoiler and extended side skirts. Additionally, the company installed an adjustable H&R sports suspension and 20-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.

Under the hood, the 5.4-liter V8 has been equipped with a supercharger, a revised ECU, and a stainless steel sport exhaust system. Thanks to these modifications, the engine produces 640 PS (471 kW / 631 hp) and 789 Nm (582 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the Golden Snake to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 295 km/h (183 mph).

The components will be available for purchase individually, but the demo model is for sale for €89,000 ($125,475).

Dubbed the Full Force, the car features a revised 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 engine that has been outfitted with a sports camshaft, revised cylinder heads, a new intake manifold, a high-flow air filter, and a stainless steel sport exhaust system. Thanks to these tweaks, the engine produces 601 PS (442 kW / 593 hp) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque - an increase of 144 PS (106 kW / 142 hp) and 120 Nm (89 lb-ft). While detailed performance specifications weren't released, Wimmer says the car has a top speed of 329 km/h (204 mph).

The engine conversion is priced from €19,900 ($28,025) but customers can also purchase a sport suspension for €3,600 ($5,070).
